Will do just fine with the upcoming Intel X48 and Nvidia nForce 790i SLI chipsets

Corsair Memory announced that it will start shipping ultra-high performance memory modules especially tailored for high-end personal computers and professional, hardcore-computing systems. The memory modules will work at a dazzling clock speed of 2.0 GHz and will ship later this quarter.
The company also hinted at even faster memory modules that will arrive soon, as the forthcoming core-logic sets will arrive with more advanced memory controllers.
“Since DDR3 was announced, the industry has been struggling to break through the 2GHz barrier. Combining our DHX technology and extensive work with chipset developers on BIOS modification, Corsair’s recent lab test results indicate that not only is 2GHz production memory going to be available, but there is plenty of room for further speed improvements,” said John Beekley, vice president of applications at Corsair.
The memory manufacturer did not disclose the actual technical specifications for the upcoming memory modules, since they will hit the retailers’ shelves during the next 40 days. One thing is for sure: the 2000 MHz memory modules will be part of the “Dominator” series of DDR3 memory products and will arrive on the market in 2GB configurations only.
Corsair is not the only memory manufacturer to come with memory modules running at the impressive 2 GHz frequency. Last year, both A-Data and Walton Chaintech introduced their 2000+ MHz Vitesta DDR3-2000X as well as Apogee GT Blazer DDR3 2000 memory modules that would reach 2 GHz internal clocks while operating at slightly higher voltages (2.1 volts, as compared to the regular 1.8 V).
The new memory modules will be built on a 6-layer print-circuit boards, that are especially designed for high-end memory products. The 6-layer PCB ensures better insulation against electromagnetic interference, but at the same time, adds a little premium to the product’s price tag.
